Ensuring All Players Enjoy the Game on Time

1. Aim

The aim of this policy is to promote an enjoyable game of golf at Marrickville Golf Club within a suitable time frame for all players. Slow play diminishes the enjoyment players receive from playing golf.

2. Background

MGC uses a Pace of Play Report to record a playing group’s position at the end of the Competition. This enables the identification of playing group round times as well as instances of slow play.

3. Application

This policy applies to all participants (members & visitors) during competitions at MGC.

4. Requirements

During competitions, each playing group is required to finalise their round by submitting it within the Simple Golf App or by either scanning or manually entering the card via the Scanner in the Clubhouse.

The 1st playing groups must complete their round in 3h:30min or less.

The position in the field for all other playing groups is less than 10min behind the playing group in front i.e. please keep up with the group in front, not in front of the group behind.

If a playing group has no group tee off in front of them, they must also complete their round in 3h:30min or less.

If there is more than 10min gap to the playing group in front, all players must take steps to close this gap to less than 10mins.

5. Breaches

All players in a playing group are responsible for keeping up with the group in front of them per the requirements set out above.

Where a playing group falls behind, all players within the playing group may be subject to the following penalties:

Compared to the playing group in front:

< 10 min Ideal position

10-12 min Playing group receives a warning/reminder.

13-15 min 1 shot penalty to all players within the relevant playing group.

16-20 min 2 shot penalty to all players within the relevant playing group.

>20 min Disqualification to all players within the relevant playing group.

Following review of the Pace of Play Report, MGC Management will apply the above penalties.

In addition, the following are breaches of this policy and may be subject to either of the penalties above:

i) Failure to scan the Paper Score card or not submitting the round via the App:

ii) The 1st playing group completing their round in more than 3h:30min.

All penalties for breaches of this policy are final.

This policy will be reviewed annually by MGC’s Match & Greens Committee.
